Rembert, SC is a small community located in the outskirts of Sumter, approximately 35 miles from the state’s capital – Columbia. After 89 years, RCES still serves a caring and committed community. Our school continues to provide a quality education for all students in an environment where children feel safe and enjoy learning. Rafting Creek is a Title I school and houses approximately 165 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Our student population is 97% African American, 3% Caucasian, and 1% Hispanic. It is our goal that all students will master and exceed grade-level expectations as outlined by the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards. Our students are provided with equitable learning experiences that will help them to become creative thinkers and problem solvers who will produce creative and innovative ideas in the future, because we believe learning is a lifelong process. We believe each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. Parental and community involvement are a vital part of our school. We encourage and offer various opportunities for parents to be involved in their child’s educational experience. The staff at RCES believes it takes students, parents, teachers, and the community working together in order to provide the support needed for our students’ educational success. We continue to solicit involvement through our, School Improvement Council (SIC), Title 1 engagements and invitations to attend school events.
