Jennifer Howard is the new principal of Rafting Creek Elementary School. She welcomes the opportunity to serve the Rafting Creek learning and teaching community and look forward to working with a dynamic staff, dedicated parents and involved community members. Most of all she looks forward to working with our students and continuing the outstanding work at Rafting Creek Elementary School.

She has been privileged to have spent 26 wonderful years as an educator working with students. She comes to Rafting Creek Elementary School with four years of experience as an assistant principal at Oakland Primary. Prior to her service as assistant principal, she served as a classroom teacher for ten years at Oakland Primary, teacher specialist with the South Carolina Department of education for one year, and also worked as instructional coach at Oakland Primary for 11 years.

Her goal will be to continue building on what everyone has worked so hard to achieve, and to use that strong foundation to move Rafting Creek to the next level. Her greatest initiative is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment to provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners. It is her sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society. Together we will continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities and academic excellence for all of our students.

On a personal note, she has lived in South Carolina her entire life and attended R.E. Davis Elementary and graduated from Mayewood High School. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education. She also holds a master’s degree from Cambridge College in Early Childhood Education and an additional master’s degree from The Citadel in Elementary Administration. She is currently working on a doctorate degree at Grand Canyon University. She is married and has two sons and also has one precious granddaughter. She is a family oriented person, loves meeting new people, enjoying new adventures, dancing, taking road trips with family and riding her motorcycle.

As part of her regular routine once school begins, you will find her out and about on campus during morning arrivals, afternoon dismissals, and throughout the day. She looks forward to the opportunity to meet and begin her relationship with the students, staff, and families of the Rafting Creek community. She can be reached via email at, or just stop by the school to introduce yourself any time as her door is always open to you.
