Ms. Scott has been awarded the 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year. She is a graduate of Hemingway High School, she furthered her education at Francis Marion University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood education and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics (K-14). She lives in the Sumter, SC area with her daughter, Nevaeh. She is a member of Mt. Ararat A.M.E. church in Nesmith, SC. Her mother and father are currently working in the education system and were her inspiration for becoming a teacher. She is currently the Math Instructional Coach here at Rafting Creek Elementary School. Ms. Scott’s philosophy of education is that all students have the capability of learning. It is up to teachers, parents, and the community to build relationships and to foster a love of learning through using research based strategies to prepare our students to have the life and career characteristics to be able to function and compete in a global society.
